if you saw their “k-i-s-s-i-n-g in a tree” engagement session, you remember ashley and jonathan. and i bet you looked forward to their wedding almost as much as we did. because if there is one thing this couple is never, it’s dull. together, they manage to pull off childlike playfulness and effortless elegance at the same time. and if i may tip my hat to jonathan: i’ve never seen any other man successfully perform ballroom dance and a choreographed rendition of “sexy and i know it” both in the same evening.

when eileen and i arrived at the georgia club, the threat of rain was giving way to a spectacularly gorgeous day. the groomsmen were buttoning down and the bridesmaids were “booting up,” which added a casual country complement to the classic decor surrounding the whole celebration. the day was one hilarious moment after another: a sisterly bed-jumping break; wind that wanted to undo hairdos and carry away bridesmaids at times; top-secret flash mob dance practices; and a YouTube laugh-fest to keep everybody chill before the ceremony. this wedding’s more profound moments were unforgettable for me: ashley’s grandfathers walking her down the aisle on behalf of her father, who surely enjoyed the celebration even better from heaven where marriage’s significance is best appreciated; a wise grandfather’s blessing, the most memorable i’ve heard; and the pure joy in ashley and jonathan’s faces when they first saw each other on that day.
